Casa Monferrato

Casa Monferrato is the name of a cozy small Bed and Breakfast in Piedmont, Italy, established in a building that once was a church.

Casa Monferrato offers - among others - authors, composers, directors, and small groups, an opportunity for a work retreat in non-traditional surroundings.

History og rebuilding

Tower in Piedmont

The building was built approximately year 1650 as a church. The oldest drawing of the building is from year 1773 and was found in the archives of the community.

At that time the church had a bell and a bakery in a side building.

Parts of the belltower still exists and in the coming year we will start restoring some of the building which later will be the library and reading area.

In the year 1934 the minister Lovisolo took initiative to a rebuilding of the church to a kindergarten. The nuns who took care of the children stayed in the rooms that now are used in the Bed & Breakfast. After being used as kindergarten for several years the house was used by Proloco (the local citizens)in the eighties.

Landscape in Monferrato

Casa Monferrato is once again rebuilt, and appears now gently restored kept in a simple and light style.

The walls are treatet with white chalk and the floors have the original tiles and every room has its own charactiristic. All rooms has view over the small village and the surrounding vineyards
